L’Institut est fier d’annoncer que son 12e colloque annuel se tiendra du 10 au 13 ao\u00fbt 2017 \u00e0 l’abbaye b\u00e9n\u00e9dictine de Saint-Beno\u00eet-du-Lac (Qu\u00e9bec).<\/p>\n

Le programme du colloque sera centr\u00e9 sur des ateliers pratiques de chant gr\u00e9gorien dirig\u00e9s par M. Jean Pascal Ollivry.<\/p>\n

Des ateliers pour d\u00e9butants anim\u00e9s par Jean-Pierre Noiseux, seront \u00e9galement offerts.<\/p>\n

Dom Richard Gagn\u00e9, o.s.b., livrera un expos\u00e9 sur la vie et l’\u0153uvre de son pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseur, dom Georges Mercure, o.s.b., et sur les enregistrements historiques de chant gr\u00e9gorien que les moines ont r\u00e9alis\u00e9s sous sa direction entre 1936 et 1948.<\/p>\n

Le colloque se terminera par la c\u00e9l\u00e9bration de la messe dominicale \u00e0 l’\u00e9glise Saint-Patrice de Magog, c\u00e9l\u00e9bration au cours de laquelle le chant sera assur\u00e9 par les participants au colloque.<\/p>\n

The Institute is proud to announce that its 12th Annual Colloquium will take place between August 10th and 13th 2017 at the Benedictine Abbey of Saint-Beno\u00eet-du-Lac (Quebec).<\/p>\n

The colloquium programme focuses on practical workshops in Gregorian chant directed by Jean Pascal Ollivry.<\/p>\n

Workshops for beginners led by Jean-Pierre Noiseux, will also be offered.<\/p>\n

Dom Richard Gagn\u00e9, o.s.b., will give a talk on the life and work of his predecessor, Dom Georges Mercure, o.s.b., and on historical recordings of Gregorian chant made between 1936 and 1948 with the monks under Dom Mercure\u2019s direction.<\/p>\n

The colloquium will conclude with the celebration of Sunday Mass in the church of Saint-Patrice in Magog, where chant will be performed by colloquium participants.<\/p>\n

Jean Pascal Ollivry<\/strong> a d\u00e9couvert le chant gr\u00e9gorien en 1974. La m\u00eame ann\u00e9e, il a particip\u00e9 \u00e0 la fondation du Ch\u0153ur gr\u00e9gorien de Paris au sein duquel il a chant\u00e9 pendant plus de trente ans, la messe et l\u2019office, en concert ou pour l\u2019enregistrement de disques. Il a \u00e9galement fait partie de l\u2019ensemble estonien Vox clamantis pendant les premi\u00e8res ann\u00e9es de ce groupe. Il a anim\u00e9 de nombreuses sessions de formation gr\u00e9gorienne dans plusieurs pays, principalement en Norv\u00e8ge, tant pour des d\u00e9butants que pour des choristes confirm\u00e9s, ou dans des couvents. En dehors de la musique, Jean Pascal traduit en fran\u00e7ais de la litt\u00e9rature estonienne.<\/p>\n

Jean Pascal Ollivry<\/strong> discovered Gregorian chant in 1974. That same year, he took part in the founding of the Ch\u0153ur gr\u00e9gorien de Paris, with whom he sang for over thirty years in the context of Mass and Office, in concert and on recordings. He was also a member of the Estonian ensemble Vox clamantis during the group\u2019s early years. Jean Pascal has led numerous Gregorian chant training sessions internationally, and has worked with beginners, experienced choristers, and in convents, especially in Norway. Outside of the musical realm, he serves as a French translator of Estonian literature.<\/p>\n

Dom Richard Gagn\u00e9<\/strong> est moine b\u00e9n\u00e9dictin \u00e0 l\u2019abbaye de Saint-Beno\u00eet-du-Lac o\u00f9 il occupe depuis 2003 la fonction de ma\u00eetre de ch\u0153ur. Entr\u00e9 au monast\u00e8re en 1976, dom Gagn\u00e9 est \u00e9galement un des organistes de l\u2019abbaye. Il a fait ses \u00e9tudes musicales en orgue et en \u00e9criture au Conservatoire de musique de Qu\u00e9bec. De plus, il a re\u00e7u l\u2019essentiel de sa formation d\u2019improvisateur aupr\u00e8s de Raymond Daveluy. De 1996 \u00e0 2003, il a succ\u00e9d\u00e9 \u00e0 dom Jean Claire comme ma\u00eetre de ch\u0153ur de l\u2019abbaye Saint-Pierre de Solesmes o\u00f9 il fut \u00e9galement organiste titulaire \u00e0 partir de 1998.<\/p>\n

Dom Richard Gagn\u00e9<\/strong> embraced monastic life in 1976 and is a Benedictine monk at the Abbey of Saint-Beno\u00eet-du-Lac. He has served there as Choirmaster since 2003 and also as one of the monastery\u2019s organists. He studied organ and composition at the Conservatoire de musique de Qu\u00e9bec, in addition to learning improvisation, for the most part with Raymond Daveluy. From 1996 to 2003 he succeeded Dom Jean Claire as Choirmaster of the Abbey of Saint-Pierre de Solesmes, and served as that institution\u2019s organist starting in 1998.<\/p>\n

L\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat de Jean-Pierre Noiseux<\/strong> pour le chant gr\u00e9gorien date de 1979. Mais c\u2019est au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 1990 qu\u2019il s\u2019est v\u00e9ritablement mis \u00e0 l’\u00e9tude du plain-chant. En 1994, il fondait la Schola Saint-Gr\u00e9goire de Montr\u00e9al, un ensemble sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 dans l\u2019interpr\u00e9tation des diff\u00e9rents genres de plain-chants d\u2019Occident et qui a donn\u00e9 de nombreuses prestations au Canada et en Europe, tant dans un contexte liturgique qu\u2019en concert. Depuis une vingtaine d\u2019ann\u00e9es, Jean-Pierre Noiseux poursuit des recherches sur l\u2019histoire de la restauration du chant gr\u00e9gorien au XIXe si\u00e8cle.<\/p>\n

Jean-Pierre Noiseux<\/strong> became interested in Gregorian chant in 1979, but resolved to deepen his study of plainchant in the early 1990s. In 1994 he founded the Schola Saint-Gr\u00e9goire de Montr\u00e9al, an ensemble specializing in the interpretation of different forms of Western plainchant. This ensemble has given numerous performances in Canada and Europe, in both liturgical and concert settings. For the past two decades, Jean-Pierre Noiseux has also engaged in scholarly research on the 19th-century Gregorian chant revival.<\/p>\n
